Record label 50/50innertainment reckons their strength comes from also being musicians. They are passionate about making music and about promoting the talent around them. We met them to find out more.
1inmusic: Hey guys, what is your story, how did it all start?
50/50: We are not only musicians, we are a Record Label. We rap as the group Stryker & MFT and run our own record label/promotion company called 50/50innertainment.
We started off as musicians Stryker & MFT and it was hard to get on major concerts so we started doing our own by investing and conducting them ourselves under the name 50/50innertainment which then opened doors up for other locals and us as a company to become a record label. 2007 is when we started making our first real cd in a professional studio as the rap group Stryker & MFT…
1inmusic: That makes us wonder, what did you grow up listening to?
50/50: We grew up listening to Rock & Disco, old school music like the O’Jays and around 11 years old, I got my first rap CD.
1inmusic: Any undervalued music artist you want to give a shout out to?
50/50: Pretty much the whole Colorado music scene is undervalued. We need more appreciation amongst each other and major record labels.
1inmusic: Any rites before performances?
50/50: We practice and listen to the songs repeatedly, feel the venue out before the performance and go in positive to have a good time.
1inmusic: And what about song writing?
50/50: The beat has to touch a nerve and we definitely have to feel it from the beginning to make a hit. We also try to make songs that people can repeatedly listen to instead of something that just gets played out real quick. People want more emotion when they listen.
1inmusic: What do you do when you don’t do music and that you are passionate about?
50/50: We promote other music artists on our social networks, help promote other local events, and also do some donating back to the community
1inmusic: Success to you is…
50/50: Being able to live comfortable along with our family…
1inmusic: What do you wish you have been told when you started out and that you think would help anyone who starts out?
50/50: Beware of fake people they come in many forms like musicians, club owners, club promoters, groupies and more. Take precaution in this music industry as the people who scam you come in a business suit. Also get paid for what your worth, know the knowledge of the business first before you just do business.
1inmusic: Any upcoming projects?
50/50: We are working on our 4th album featuring Lord Infamous of Three 6 Mafia and more and there are some events coming up.
1inmusic: Thank you for joining us! Any last words, somewhere to find you, your music, your label maybe?
50/50: Check us out at www.reverbnation.com/5050innertainment where you can find our music and some of the new musicians signed to our label also.
