We’ve only got and landed an interview with award-winning international music artist Ricky Dechard who studied sound engineering and music production in England. With his works recognised, it is hard to believe he is only going to be releasing his first album next year and going on his first tour. We met him to find out more about how he got there and what has motivated his success.
1inmusic: Hi Ricky! Thank you for giving us a bit of your time, we can only imagine how busy it must be for you at the moment, are we right to think so?
Ricky Dechard: I can not tell you much yet, I’m planning many actions for the next year with my publicist Charmaine Blake and the publishing team here in Italy. I’m about to start my first club tour in the US with the singer Sabrina Petrini in March 2016 and then probably Mexico too. Also, My original debut single going by the name of “Ricky Dechard” is to be expected in 2016, stay tuned!
1inmusic: How would you define your music release?
Ricky Dechard: You know I don’t categorize music, even though it’s always electronic music in the end.
1inMusic: If I say producer, DJ, soundtrack composer, Italian music influences… what would you answer?
Ricky Dechard: The fact that I was initially a producer even before being a DJ gave me the opportunity to make music for movies and other artists and trust me it’s so rewarding. I really enjoy making both [soundtracks and ‘normal’ releases], they’re just different. You know, the way you compose and produce changes a lot when it comes to producing soundtracks.
Well, you can feel some Italian music influences in my productions 😉 My original music is a melange of Italo, European house and American urban vibes.
1inmusic: How does it all translate on stage?
Ricky Dechard: I definitely love the energy when I’m on stage. I spin only my original music and remixes during my live set while I select and play all the tunes I love at the club or other venues.
1inmusic: At what point did you realised you were going to make music professionally?
Ricky Dechard: … a few years ago when I released my first EP and then I started getting a massive support from other producers and people involved in the industry.
1inmusic: What do you think of the current music scene?
Ricky Dechard: The music scene now is saturated, especially the EDM scene and this is overlapping the industry unfortunately. It’s like there’s just a few clubs in the game and at the same time you can see thousands DJs all trying to perform there.
1inmusic: How does it feel to have earned various awards and accolades internationally and have you “made it”?
Ricky Dechard: The awards I got this year are a sign from music critics as if to say “Go ahead and never quit” but I think the love of your followers is very important. I’m just trying to do my best as always man, maybe the mix of different styles led my project to intrigue people from different countries.
1inmusic: Finally, tell us what Ricky Dechard does when he’s not doing music…
Ricky Dechard: I listen to a lot of Chill, Lounge, Samba, Indie Electronic and Urban lately. You know you can’t get inspiration from House music to make another House music tune. I love to do sports, travelling and cinema also. I’m not that type of crazy DJ guy doing drugs and parties all the time! (laughs)
1inmusic: lol, many thanks for giving us this interview, Ricky Dechard!
