An Interview with new rapper on the U.S. block EerieG

Posted by 1inMusic on 25 Feb 2021 in Interviews | 114 Views

Only four months in, and new rapper on the block EerieG is boasting a social popularity in par with his ambitions. Self-produced, the 20-year old artist from Charlottesville, Virginia offers a trap/melodic style with a witty, punchy delivery. From Spotify to Soundcloud via Instagram, his following grows. His most viewed song, Bankai, has just passed 2.4M streams on Soundcloud. Responsive to his fans in direct messages, EerieG makes it a point to speak with them! We emeet the artist to understand his aim and ways.

1 In Music: Thank you for this little emeetup. Let’s start with what is unique about your music?

EerieG: I usually make all my beats and do my own production, so you get to see a more personal side to my music. I make music that I like, while also taking fans’ advice, since we are still growing together.

1 In Music: What/who shaped your music and who supports you?

EerieG: Well, I listened to a lot of Juice Wrld growing up, he was a big idol to me. I like to think I use some elements from his music in my own. I have a ton of personal friends and family members who push me to be my best, I am only here because of them.

1 In Music: When did you realise you were going to make music professionally?

EerieG: It wasn’t long ago actually. I was working, and you know how the 9-5 life starts to get you dreaming. I have been writing music for what feels like my whole life, but I finally decided to take the plunge during a time when I had no money, I had no other options. I didn’t realize it was a career choice for me until I interacted with fans and grew to love the culture.

1 In Music: What type of music do you listen to?

EerieG: I listen to a lot of rap and rock music. Again, Juice Wrld has been at the top of the list for years. I like Trippie Red, The Kid Laroi, and Skimask as well.

1 In Music: Who, to you, is the most undervalued music artist?

EerieG: To me, I would say it’s 24kGoldn. He has a genius mind. The way he shot up out of no where using Tiktok and other social media, it is truly inspiring.

1 In Music: How do you prepare for your performances?

EerieG: I do not really do anything different before a show, I like to go out on the stage the same way I walked through the door, being me. If I prepare too much, I will get inside my own head. Every venue is going to be a new experience, every crowd is going to have a different energy.

1 In Music: What do you do when you don’t do music (creative or otherwise) and that you are passionate about?

EerieG: I’m a big gamer to be honest, I play all the latest sports and first person shooting games. I’m really into anime as well, Noragami is my favorite!

1 In Music: Hence the title of your EP I guess. So would this be success for you?

EerieG: Success is a feeling. I do not measure success with money, its all about mindset. If you are happy, and putting out music that people enjoy, that’s successful to me, no matter what level you are fame-wise.

1 In Music: What do you wish you were told when you started out and that you think would help anyone who starts out?

EerieG: Not everyone is going to try and help you. I want to stress that upcoming artists need to research anyone they work with, as a lot of people out here will try to get one over on you.

1 In Music: Any upcoming projects?

EerieG: I’m working on a few new songs, as well as my first official album, as my last work was an EP.

1 In Music: Thank you for your time and insight. Tell our readers where they can we find your music?

EerieG: I’m on all major streaming platforms, just search EerieG! My instagram is @eeriegmusic
