DJ, Musician and Broadcasters Maseko & Mayeva Unite to Celebrate Music In Manchester’s Norther Quarter
Renowned British-Congolese musician and online broadcaster, Robert Maseko has teamed up with Manchester-based DJ Mayeva to produce a unique musical evening at Northern Quarter lifestyle bar and lounge Porter and Cole called Colours of Life.
Robert Maseko became established on the international world music scene, touring internationally with his band The Congobeat, before finally settling in the UK in 1994. He now runs the highly respected online station Radio Afric-Aye.
Jazz and world rhythms specialist, Geli Berg, produced and presented weekly magazine show, Cultural Collage on ALL FM in Manchester for 13 years before turning to the live DJ scene. As DJ Mayeva, she now regularly performs at venues and festivals throughout the UK. She also runs the Lingua Franca World Music Agency.
Both DJs share an unparalleled knowledge of music from all over the globe and are delighted to be able to introduce their new night to Manchester. “This will not be the usual type of DJ evening – anything can happen!”, says Geli, ”This is for people who are up for a relaxing time where they can hear music or versions of music they might not normally hear”.
For some time now, Porter & Cole, in the Northern Quarter, has been quietly extending its unique lifestyle concept to include exclusive evening projects and Colours of Life is the latest project to be aimed at lovers of cool music”
The bi-monthly event launches on Saturday, 29 September and patrons can expect cool jazz, soul and funk, interspersed with urbane world beats and live percussion.
Tickets can be purchased from Eventbrite. Early bird £8, advance £10, more on the door.
