Dark Days and Bright Nights – Luna Rise

Posted by guestwriter on 23 Aug 2015 in Releases | 185 Views

Fasten  your  seat  belts!

LUNA  RISE kidnaps  for  an  interstellar  mission!  Melodic  Rock is  the  name  of  the genre  and  operation,  eagerly  conducted  by  these young  hard-hitting  Austrians.  This  year  (2015)  the  long awaited  debut-album  DARK  DAYS  &  BRIGHT  NIGHTS finally  saw  the  light  (or  shadow)  of  the  day.

The  title  arose from  a  time  when singer  &  frontman Chris  Divine called  the  nights  his  own  -‐ more  than  the  days.

On  this  record  the  band  offers  an  emotional  rollercoaster  ride  between  musically  tough  and  tender  moments,  without lacking  mighty melodies.   During  this interplay  of  light  and  shadow,  a  rich  diversity  of  gloomy Heartbreak-Rock discloses.  Paired   with  Progressive  Metal  influences   and   even   some   quite  earworm-soaked Pop vibes.

This  game of contrast  is  not  only  clearly  reflected  in the  music. Correspondent  to  the  elaborate  concept, the  album cover  is  decorated with a  Yin-Yang shaped fusion of  moon  and sun,  which  once  again  illustrates the  harmony  between  the  symbolism  of  the  band  and  the  different  tracks  of  the  album.  Therefore  it’s  no  coincidence  that  the  songs  are  divided  – respectively  six  of  them  are  either  associated  with  the “Dark  Days”  or  the  “Bright  Nights”.  Nothing  is  left  to  chance.

Now  finally  get  ready  for  take‐off,  get  ready  for  Luna  Rise.

Biography

“They  say  there  is  no  light  without  dark,  no  good  without  evil,  no  male without   female,   no   right   without   wrong.   That   nothing   can   exist   if   its  direct  opposite  does  not  also  exist”  ‐ Laurell  K.  Hamilton

No  light  without  dark…  no  good  without  evil,  no  loud  without  quiet,  no Yin  without  Yang.

This  interplay  has  a  supporting  role  within  the  musical  creations  of  LUNA  RISE.  Specifically  when  it  comes  to  the  conceptually  thought out current  debut  album  “Dark  Days  &  Bright  Nights”,  whose  front  cover  is   decorated  with a   merging  Yin  Yang,   consisting   of  moon   and sun.  Each   dark   day   is   followed   by   a   brightly   lit   night.  This   is   something Chris  Divine, singer  and  leader  of  the  band, sings  about,  at  the  same  time reflecting  the  one  ore  another  liminal experience  he  lived  through.

The  music  of  LUNA  RISE  could  sound  like  having  Bon  Jovi,  Billy  Idol,  Ozzy,   Dave   Gahan   and   Neil   Armstrong   locked   in   a   room   with instruments  – during  full  moon  of  course.  The  band’s  name  containing  “Luna”  (lat.  moon  and  Roman  goddess)  refers  to  a  conscious  game  with  mystique  and  atmosphere.  The  music  does  also  come  with  numerous  facets   and   influences   from   classic  Hard  Rock,  Progressive  Metal,  Goth – / Dark Rock,  up  to melancholic-‐ sensual Pop with  some  catchy  earworms.

In  2011,  the  band  is  launched  by  Chris  Divine  (on  guitar  first)  and  bass  player  Rob   Rocket.   The   autistic-inspired   all-rounder  Luke   Vegas (guitar)  joins  and  displaces Divine  from  the  guitar,  who  occupies  the  role  behind  the  microphone  henceforth.    The  band  is  completed  by  the freaky   keyboard-wrecker L.X. (Lunious   Xaviour   Andersson)   and   the   full-moon-shy,  hairy Loup-Garou on  drums.

In  the  first  year  of  existence,  the  melodic‐rock  group from  Enns  (Upper  Austria)   performs   an   impressive   debut:  The first   CD  get  released (“Smoking  Kills,  But  Love  Can  Break  A  Heart”)  as  well  as  the  music  video   for   “Dead   Alley”.     In   2012,   video  airplay,   performances   and  interviews on Music   Television   (goTV)   follow.   The   band   around   the  charismatic  frontman  reached  to  hit  big  waves  in  short  time  – positive  feedback  from  fans  (including marriage  proposals)  around  the  world  speak  for  themselves.    For  the  song  “616”,  even a  fan-produced  animation video appears.

In  2013  a  re-issue  of  the  debut  EP  follows,  along  with  the  new  song  and  live-audience  favourite  “When  You  Fall”.  The  production  of  the first  full-length  album  starts  in  2014.  “Valentine”  appears  preliminary,  including  a  music  video  with  Austrian  model  Sonja  Plöchl.

In   2015,   LUNA   RISE  team   up   with NRT-Records,   where   the   album  “Dark  Days  &  Bright  Nights”  finally  sees  the  light  of  day  (or  moon).
