Cirex

Meeting Eric Ortiz, the musical mind behind Cirex

Posted by 1inMusic on 9 Feb 2016 in Interviews | 567 Views

Cirex is a Puerto Rican solo project that combines metal with dubstep and industrial influences embedded with guitars, created by Eric Ortiz. His music has appeared on independent Horror Films in Denmark, as the theme of the radio program “Al Tiempo de Dios” (In God’s Time) hosted by Maritza Medina on Radio Vida in Puerto Rico. He has collaborated with the likes of Eduardo Paniagua, drummer of the band Puya and William Martin from the band Earshot, who mastered part of his first album ‘The Lab‘. We met with Eric…

1inmusic: Hi Eric, thank you for joining us. Talk to us about your music, how would you sum up its uniqueness?

Eric Ortiz (EO): Well, the crazyness of copy and paste that make it sounds crazy, and its heaviness.

1inMusic: What shaped your music and who supports you?
EO: Years of recording, practice, a lot of musicians around the World who support me, but mostly the fans who enjoy every single beat I throw.

1inmusic: When did you realise you were going to make music as a profession
EO: When I recorded my very first 12 songs, that became an album, sounded so good that I realized I can do this stuff on another level.

1inmusic: What type of music do you listen to?

EO: Electronic and all types in it Dubstep, Industrial, DnB, and a lot of Metal and Rock music – I play guitar.

1inmusic: Who, to you, is the most undervalued music artist?
EO: I think, Celldweller, that guy makes all the music, is very complicated, and I feel he is not receiving the recognition he deserves, even he is pretty well known around the Globe.

1inmusic: How do you prepare for your performances?

EO: Mostly, I prepare the drums, what I called the “skeleton”, the rest I program it with my computer, and live guitars.

1inmusic: What ignites your (song) writing flow?

EO: Every noise, every sound I hear during the day, that I realize I can make a beat out of.

1inmusic: What do you do when you don’t do music (creative or otherwise) and that you are passionate about?

EO: Graphic Arts, websites, actually I have a little business of it: www.ericortiz.net

1inmusic: Success to you is…

EO: Life, be happy with what you do…

1inmusic: What do you wish you have been told when you started out and that you think would help anyone who starts out?

EO: Work on the image, and bring the best sound quality as possible. Have a great press kit, are elemental things that helped me on the beginning.

1inmusic: Any upcoming projects?

EO: I have an upcoming track on iTunes called I want you to bleed” featuring “Isaiah”, a vocalist who can sing and scream very nice.

1inmusic: And finally, with great thanks, where do we find you music and projects?

EO: On iTunes, Spotify, and as always at my website: www.cirexmusic.com
