A&L‘s spin on Clichés

A&L‘s spin on Clichés

Posted by guestwriter on 16 Aug 2016 in Reviews | 851 Views

Seasoned duo A&L is back with new music. This will be Anthony Casuccio and Lana Marie’s fourth single. Cliché is an upbeat, pop/alt-country song with catchy hooks and killer guitar riffs. “We wanted to poke fun at the typical love song lyrics.” say Casuccio. Cliché takes a comedic look at the typical subject matter and lines used in songwriting. “The past year has been filled with so many highlights, Anthony and I have been so honored and humbled with the attention our music has gotten from radio, industry insiders and most of all, the fans,” says Lana Marie. “Since we released Hot Mess back in October, we have consistently been asked for new music. “We are excited for everyone to hear Cliché.”

The song’s harmonies may sound a little cliché upon first listen, but if you pay attention to the harmonies, they are not your typical pop intervals. They are not cliché. We had some fun and changed some minor thirds to major to change things up and create some dissonance. “That’s our little inside joke” says Casuccio. “This song has an alt-country feel. We have changed with each new song. Our last song, Hot Mess, really rocked out and was even picked up by a few harder-edged radio stations. We feel Cliché has great crossover potential”.

What makes this duo unique is that they are both over 40 and having success in an industry that is dominated by younger artists. Anthony and Lana have been together for over two years and have released four singles, each one doing better than the previous release. Their current song Cliché has topped the European Indie Top 200 landing in the top 10 for five weeks. A&L’s last two songs have been played on radio all over the globe and received numerous features in music industry publications. “We may be a little older than most of these new artists, but we’re rockin it. And we are having fun and getting a great response from fans, radio and critics. That’s enough to want to keep rockin’.” says Lana.

A&L is finishing up an EP that they plan to release in the late fall and are looking into a short tour in Europe at the beginning of the New Year. “We are building a fan base in Europe, so if we can arrange some opening slots they we will head over there” say Lana Marie. We would love to rock-out for our European fans”. Their video for Cliché is scheduled for released this week.

A&L is made up of two seasoned industry professionals: Anthony Casuccio and Lana Marie. Anthony is a 20-year music veteran whose production work has been nominated for three Grammy awards, been featured in major music publications and topped the music charts. Anthony’s received RIAA certified gold records for his production work. Lana Marie is an award-winning vocalist who has been a long-time force on the NY music scene and voice to many jingles on radio and television.
