Loris Laker is rocking his way up

by | Dec 18, 2015 | Music Interviews

Inspired in his own words by the likes of Buddy Holly, Elvis and Michael Jackson, Loris Laker brings the 50s and 60s Rock’n’Roll to the modern age, keeping their high sense of rhythm and melody and what can only be referred to as his personal touch. We met him to find out more.

1inmusic: Hi Loris and thanks for letting us in. Tell us a little about your music and its inspiration?
Loris: My music is more rhythmic, melodic. You feel like dancing on it, but it still retain that Rock and Roll root in it. I listen to all kinds of music , but mostly I got inspired by the fifties (50s) and sixties (60s) Rock’n’Roll era, and by the works of the Beatles, Elvis, Michael Jackson and Buddy Holly. Their music is so melodic and rhythmic, I just love them. I listen to them over and over again, it never gets old.

1inmusic: When did you realise you were going to make music professionally?
Loris: I started performing in college and friends were praising my music a lot so that  gave me the boost to give it a try. I may not be successful but I won’t leave performing ever.

1inmusic: How do you prepare for your performances?
Loris: A lot of practice, simply a lot. Sometimes I go though hell, fearing every time “what if I end up doing something wrong on stage”, so the same song and dance has to be done over and over again coming back to the same step or same line. It’s hectic, but I enjoy each and every bit of it.

1inmusic: How do you write your songs?
Loris: While writing a song, I never think, I just write whatever comes to my mind and keep on looping the melody. Initially, there are some pretty dodgy lyrics, but that is the nature of making up a song.

1inmusic: What do you do when you don’t do music and that you are passionate about?
Loris: I am interested in a lot of things , books, mainly biographies and I go through a lot of those. Sometimes I do trekking…

1inmusic: What should anyone starting out be advised?
Loris:… to “Never Give Up”

1inmusic: Success to you is…
Loris: … currently, getting acknowledged and getting signed by one of the major label. I know it doesn’t sounds totally rational but that is the deal right now.

1inmusic: Thank you for taking this interview. So, what is next for Loris Laker and where can we find out more about your music?
Loris: I am currently working on my next single. You can find about my music at http://lorislaker.com/
